We are pleased to invite you to the ESAFORM-supported thematic workshop “Material Testing 2.0: Innovative Information-rich material testing”, a seminar jointly organized by OCAS and KU Leuven with the support of ESAFORM. This is a hybrid event that you can attend physically (Ghent) or virtually (Microsoft Teams platform) on Friday, October 7th from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM.

The Metal Plasticity Seminar is an annual event to promote a platform for people working in the field of metal plasticity, to discuss the state-of-the-art, current research challenges, and future developments.  The intent is to strengthen the cross-fertilization between theoretical material modeling, computational and experimental plasticity, and the development of industrial applications.

Following a series of three successful seminars (see 20192020, and 2021), this year’s seminar is devoted to Material testing 2.0 (MT2.0). Renowned international experts will give keynote lectures on heterogeneous mechanical tests for characterizing the plasticity of metals using full-field measurements. Knowledge transfer to the industry is pursued in the afternoon via a workshop.

Program

Morning: keynote lectures

09:00 AM
The VFM for anisotropic plasticity: a material testing 2.0 perspective
Prof. Pierron, MatchID and University of Southampton

09:45 AM
Mechanical behavior of metals: from homogeneous to heterogeneous mechanical tests
Prof. Thuillier, Southern Brittany University

10:30 AM
Bulge test 2.0: how to give a new life to the hydraulic bulge test
Prof. Rossi, Marche Polytechnic University

11:15 AM
On the use of optimization and ML approaches in MT2.0
Prof. A. Andrade-Campos, University of Aveiro

Afternoon: industrial workshop DIC and VFM

The workshop aims at encouraging and helping the industry to adopt MT2.0, and, consequently, fostering innovation in metal plasticity. After a comprehensive introduction to MT2.0, several practical applications of this technique are presented and discussed.

1:30 PM Workshop DIC & VFM for metal plasticity

Dr. Lava, MatchID
